Women’s Tennis Falls Short At Middle Tennessee

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Ball State women's tennis team dropped a heart breaking 4-3 match at Middle Tennessee Sunday afternoon at the Adam's Tennis Complex.
With the loss, the Cardinals drop to 4-2 on the season while the Blue Raiders improve to 8-6 overall this spring.
Unfortunately, Ball State dropped the doubles point to Middle Tennessee today falling short on courts one and two in that order. Both doubles competitions were tight matches and could have gone either way. Amy Kaplan and Hannah Davies fell 6-4 on the top court while Mariya Polishchuk and Emma Peeler suffered a 7-5 setback at the No. 2 slot.
Polishchuk though began the Cardinals comeback fairly quickly in singles play after posting a 7-5, 6-2 win over the Blue Raiders No. 3 player Alexis Love-Star. Peeler gave BSU its first lead of the match, 2-1, after taking down Lee Barnard on court one, 7-6, 6-2.
After that, Middle Tennessee went up 3-2 claiming wins on courts four and two, respectively.
Davies three set thrilling victory for BSU at No. 5 singles would knot the match back up 3-3.
The deciding point came down to court No. 6 where Elena Malykh couldn't pull through in the third set giving Middle Tennessee the slim victory today.
The Ball State women's tennis team remains on the road Friday, Feb. 25 at Dayton. First serve is at noon.
