Women’s Tennis Sweeps Dayton, 7-0

MIAMISBURG, Ohio - The Ball State women's tennis team opened its two-match weekend with a 7-0 sweep at Dayton Friday afternoon.
With the win, Ball State improves to 5-2 on the season while Dayton falls to 5-5 on the year.
The Cardinals used the doubles point to start the match off strong after posting victories on courts two and three. Amy Kaplan and Hannah Davies paired up on court No. 2 while Mariya Polischuk and Elena Malykh competed at No. 3 spot. Both of Ball State's doubles tandems won their respective matches by a score of 6-4.
Following the doubles point, Ball State made quick work of singles winning on all six courts in straight sets.
Jessica Braun breezed through her opponents Neena Katauskas, 6-1, 6-3 at the No. 2 slot increasing BSU's lead to 2-0. Shortly after, Emma Peeler beat Erica Wojcikiewz, 6-3, 6-1, pushing the score to 3-0.
Davies would then clinch match point after only giving up three games total to Paige Kompa at the No. 4 singles position, winning her match 6-1, 6-2.
The Ball State women's tennis team returns to the court on Sunday when it hosts Youngstown State for a 1:30 pm ET first serve at the Northwest YMCA.
