Garberick Earns Fourth MAC Swimmer of the Week Honor This Season

CLEVELAND, Ohio - - For the fourth time this season, and the fifth time in his young career, Ball State sophomore Joey Garberick has been named the Mid-American Conference Men's Swimmer of the Week.

Garberick led the Cardinals with four event wins in last Friday's dual at Bellarmine, locking up two individual first-place finishes and a pair of relay victories.Â

After opening the meet by swimming the second leg of the first-place 400 medley relay, which clocked in at 3:30.37, Garberick would go on win the 100 (57.97) and 200 (2:07.98) breaststroke events. He finished the day on the third leg of the first-place 200 freestyle relay which touched the wall in 1:25.15 to end the meet.Â

Two days later at the Butler Invitational, Garberick placed second in the 200 breaststroke (2:07.82) and third in the 100 breaststroke (57.03), leading the way for the Cardinals.

The Ball State men's swimming & diving team closes the dual meet portion of the 2021-22 schedule Saturday, when Valparaiso visits for swimming and UIndy comes to town for diving. The diving portion will also include BSU's women divers.
