Men’s Tennis Ends Fall Season at MAC Indoors
November 06, 2022 | Men's Tennis
KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Ball State men's tennis team wrapped up its 2022 fall season at the MAC Indoors Sunday afternoon on the campus of Western Michigan. The Cardinals played in a total of four fall tournaments this season.
"Overall, it was a very productive fall season," Ball State head men's tennis coach Bill Richards said. "In tournament play we won a lot more matches than we lost, and I thought as a team our level of play was good. The fall is the time we work on individual improvement in problem areas of each player's game, and I feel we made some good progress. We now look forward to the dual match season in the winter and spring."
In singles action today, Broc Fletcher, Jacks Lancaster, Vince Orlando and Nathaniel Webster, all won their respective singles matches.
In Flight 4 singles, Eli Herran had advanced to the championship match after his defeat over Northern Illinois' Chris Norlin and Binghamton's Ronin Lotlikar on Saturday. Herran would fall in the title match to Western Michigan's Jackson Boone, 6-4, 6-4.
In Flight 1 singles, Webster closed out fall play on a high note after registering a 5-7, 6-3, 10-7 win against NIU's Mikael Vollback.
Orlando took down Toledo's Adam Kovac in Flight 3 singles consolation final round, 6-2, 6-2 and Lancaster took the Flight 4 singles consolation championship after beating WMU's Fynn Lohse, 4-6, 6-2, 10-2.
Rounding out the victories today was Fletcher in Flight 5 singles consolation as he registered a straight set victory against Buffalo's Greg Hastings, 6-3, 6-1.
The Ball State men's tennis team will open its 2023 spring season at home against Eastern Illinois Jan. 20 at 1 pm ET, indoors at the Northwest YMCA Tennis Center.
