Chaye’s Two Individual Wins Leads Men’s S&D At IUPUI

INDIANAPOLIS - - The Ball State men's swimming & diving team tallied four event wins but came up on the short end of a 190-110 dual versus IUPUI Friday afternoon at the IUPUI Natatorium.
Leading the way for the Cardinals (1-1; 0-0 MAC) was senior Owen Chaye, who captured the top spot in the 50 (20.59) and 100 (45.12) freestyle events.
Chaye also swam anchor for the first-place 400 freestyle relay which clocked in at 3:05.40 and included senior Jack Wolfred, freshman Jacob Siewers, and junior Joey Garberick.
Ball State's fourth event win came courtesy of senior Bryce Handshoe with his wall touch of 1:53.69 in the 200 butterfly.
In addition to the four event wins, the Cardinals turned in eight second-place efforts including a pair from Garberick in the 100 (55.44) and 200 (2:05.07) breaststrokes.
The Ball State women's swimming & diving program will focus on training over the next few weeks, before closing the first portion of the 2022-23 season at the Miami Invitational, which will be held Dec. 1-3.
