
Field Hockey Kicks Off Fall Break With Two Home Games

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State field hockey team will kick off its fall break with two home games against Ohio (Oct. 7) and Big Ten foe Michigan State (Oct. 9) at the Briner Sports Complex. Both games are slated to begin at 1 p.m. ET.Â

The Cardinals enter this weekend's play with an overall record of 5-5 and a 2-1 Mid-American Conference ledger while the Bobcats come to Muncie with an overall mark of 5-5 and a 1-2 conference stint.Â

Last year, Ball State fell to Ohio by a score of 3-0 in Athens. In the nontraditional season in the spring of 2021 the Cardinals split its two-game weekend series in Muncie against the Bobcats. Current junior Maureen Donegan and senior Angel Nkosi both earned goals against Ohio that year. Ball State has won three of the past five meetings against Ohio. The Bobcats lead the all-time series 25-7.Â

Ball State will face its fourth Big Ten opponent on Sunday as the Cardinals welcome the Michigan State Spartans to Muncie. The Cardinals have won two of their last four meetings against Michigan State, defeating MSU in 2016 by a score of 3-2 and in 2014 by a score of 2-1. The last time these two teams met was on Sept. 12 in East Lansing, resulting in a 7-1 loss for Ball State.Â

After this weekend, Ball State will play two games in Louisville, Ky., (Oct. 14-16). The Cardinals will face Bellarmine in MAC action on Friday, Oct. 14 at 1 pm ET and then close out play against Louisville at 2 pm ET on Sunday, Oct. 16.
