Women's S&D Wins Six Events At Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - - Despite six individual event wins, the Ball State women's swimming & diving team opened the Mid-American Conference dual portion of its season with a 174.5-124.5 setback at Bowling Green Saturday afternoon.

Leading the way for the Cardinals at Cooper Pool was junior Marcella Ribeiro with wins in the 200 (1:53.73) and 500 (5:07.35) freestyle events, giving her three total event victories on the young season.
Â
Sophomore Hannah Jones picked up her fourth event win of the 2022-23 campaign, and third of the weekend, in the 100 butterfly as she clocked in at 57.16.

Freshmen Alyssa Messenger and Kiran Stauffer added their second individual event wins in as many days, with Messenger touching first in the 200 backstroke (2:05.69) and Stauffer in the 1000 freestyle (10:33.13).

Also picking up her second overall, and first individual, event win of the weekend was senior Laura Wright in the 200 breaststroke (2:19.47).

In addition to the six event wins, the Cardinals added seven runner-up efforts at the meet.

The Ball State women's swimming & diving continues MAC dual season next Saturday, when it hosts Akron at Noon at the Lewellen Aquatic Center.
