Field Hockey Closes Out Its Weekend Play At No. 8 Michigan

 ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The Ball State field hockey team closed out its two-game weekend against one of the nation's top-ranked teams Sunday afternoon, suffering a 7-0 loss at No. 8 Michigan.Â

Despite its best effort, the Cardinals (5-5) could not stop the Wolverines (6-4) strong offensive approach eventually building a 3-0 edge over Ball State after the first 30 minutes of action. Michigan has also recently defeated fellow Mid-American Conference programs Central Michigan (9-0) and Miami (1-0).

The weekend wasn't a total loss for the Cardinals though, Ball State won in Mid-American Conference action on Friday in a thrilling 4-3 double overtime victory over the Chippewas in Mount Pleasant, Mich.Â

The Ball State field hockey team will return home to the Briner Sports Complex next weekend when it hosts Ohio University for a 1 pm ET MAC showdown. The Cardinals will also face their fourth Big Ten opponent of the season when BSU welcomes Michigan State to Muncie on Sunday at 1 pm ET.
