MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State women's tennis team looks to remain undefeated this season when it hosts in-state rival Butler on Sunday, Jan. 30 at 1:30 p.m. ET at the Northwest YMCA.
The Cardinals are coming off a successful season opener against Eastern Illinois last weekend defeating the Panthers with a 7-0 sweep. The Bulldogs enter Sunday's match with an 0-1 ledger after falling 6-1 to fellow Mid-American Conference member Miami.
For their efforts, the Ball State No. 3 twosome of Amy Kaplan and Isabelle Behrman were tabbed the Mid-American Conference Doubles Team of the Week. Kaplan and Behrman were the first twosome off the court against Eastern Illinois. The twosome registered a 6-2 win over the Panthers doubles tandem of Lauren Ellis and Kaitlyn Snyder.
Kaplan and Behrman helped the Cardinals capture the doubles point over EIU and later earn the 7-0 sweep over the Panthers.
The Cardinals are looking for yet another successful season this year under ninth-year head coach Max Norris. In 2021, under the direction of Norris, the Cardinals earned the program's third MAC regular season championship in the past five conference seasons. The special year also featured a 22-match winning streak, along with the program's second ever berth to the NCAA Tournament both under Norris' tutelage.
