Women’s Tennis Takes Down In-State Rival Butler

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State women's tennis team moved to 2-0 on the season after taking down in-state rival Big East foe Butler (0-3) by a score of 6-1 Sunday afternoon at the Northwest YMCA.
BSU took wins on the top two courts today to earn the doubles point over Butler.
First off, the court, was the No. 1 duo of Emma Peeler and Mariya Polischuk. Peeler and Polischuk only gave up two games to the Bulldogs pair of Natalie Boesing and Sara Linn winning the match, 6-2.
The doubles point was then claimed after Hannah Davies and Amy Kaplan also won by a 6-2 decision over Butler's No. 3 twosome of Katie Beavin and Norah Balthazor.
Kaplan breezed through her match in singles play taking down Linn in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1 on court three. The Cardinals then moved to 3-0 over the Bulldogs after Polishchuk took down Butler's Delaney Schurhamer, 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 2 position.
Livia Lukacs has clinched many points in the past and this year is no different, Lukacs claimed match point after defeating Butler's No. 6 singles player Nancy Cabanas in both sets 6-2.
The Ball State women's tennis team will head on the road for the first time this season when the Cardinals face Louisville at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center on Friday, Feb. 4. First serve is at 4 pm ET.
