Women's Basketball Returns Home To Worthen Arena Wednesday Against Toledo

Opening Tip:
- Wednesday's contest marks the 86th time in program history the two schools have met with Toledo leading the all-time series record, 57-29. Ball State has won four straight over Toledo from 2019-present.
- Ball State and Toledo's first meeting ever was in 1980-81, that year the Cardinals defeated the Rockets by a score of 63-47.
- Ball State has won 11 of the last 16 meetings against the Rockets dating back to the 2013-14 season.
- From 2013-14, Ball State had won six in a row over Toledo, marking it the longest win streak in program history over the Rockets. The Cardinals swept the regular season series against the Rockets last year defeating Toledo in Worthen Arena on Jan. 6 by a score of 93-78 and then on the road 88-77 on Feb. 27.
- Ball State is looking to get back on the winning track on Wednesday against the Rockets after falling at Akron Saturday, 76-63. Under head coach Brady Sallee the Cardinals are 6-3 when playing the Rockets in Worthen Arena dating back to Sallee's first season in 2012-13.
- Toledo currently sits atop of the Mid-American Conference standings with an unblemished 6-0 ledger. The Rockets so far this season has knocked off league opponents Kent State (69-60), Akron (64-58), Eastern Michigan (64-48), Western Michigan (76-67), Central Michigan (74-49) and Northern Illinois (73-52).
In The Nation In 3's:
The Cardinals currently rank 11th in the nation among its Division I peers in 3-point field goals per game (9.2). Ball State also ranks in the top-50 in 3-point field goal attempts coming in at 41 with 431 and 23rd in the nation for total 3-pointers with 138.
Sallee Is HOT In January:
It may be cold outside but the Cardinals tend to get hot in the month of January under 10th-year head coach Brady Sallee. Sallee owns an overall record of 49-27 (.657) in the month of January dating back to his first season in 2012-13.
Loving Latimer:
Ball State women's basketball graduate student Chyna Latimer joined the Cardinals this season after transferring from the University of Delaware. Unfortunately, with the loss of Anna Clephane due to an injury she sustained agains Kent State, Latimer stepped up and took a starting role at Eastern Michigan on Jan. 12. Latimer definitely wasn't shy as she led the team with a personal best 17-point performance while helping Ball State defeat Eastern Michigan in Ypsilanti by a score of 83-73. She then matched that performance with 17 points at Akron (1/15/22).
Ball Control:
In the Cardinals last 10 contests Ball State has been able limit its turnovers against its opponents. Against Purdue Fort Wayne, the Cardinals only committed 12 turnovers and then mimicked that type of performance against Pitt with a season low nine miscues. Currently the Cardinals assist/turnover ratio is 1.14 which is good for a national ranking of 34.

MAC COVID Game Policy:
The MAC announced that due to the current rise in COVID cases and its impact on winter sport programs. If possible, games that cannot be played as scheduled will be rescheduled. If a game cannot be played and cannot be rescheduled, it will be considered a no contest. For men's and women's basketball, a team must meet a minimum threshold of seven scholarship student-athletes and one coach to play a game.

- Toledo is paced offensively by Quinesha Lockett who is averaging 18.0 points per contest. Not far behind Lockett is junior Sophia Wiard who scores 11.3 points per ball game. Leading the Rockets defensively is Wiard who is averaging 6.1 rebounds.
