Men’s Volleyball Suffers 3-1 Setback At McKendree
April 02, 2021 | Men's Volleyball
LEBANON, Ill. - The Cardinals traveled to No. 10 McKendree for its final Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association regular season series before next weekend's MIVA Tournament quarterfinal rounds in which all eight teams will make this year's tourney.
Unfortunately for Ball State (10-7, 7-5 MIVA) it did not get the happy ending tonight that it had hoped after falling 3-1 to the Bearcats (10-4, 9-4 MIVA) Friday night in the Melvin Price Convocation Center.
A similar situation happened last weekend for Ball State with its opposing team jumping out to an early lead after taking the opening two sets from the Cardinals.
Even though Ball State was down 2-0 in the match it never seemed to bother the Cardinals. BSU chirped back in set three to win it in dominating fashion, 25-18.
Both teams went toe-to-toe in fourth set but a few missed opportunities and hitting errors allowed McKendree to capitalize off the Cardinals miscues. The Bearcats would then go on to take set four 25-17.
Three different Cardinals reached double digit kills against the Bearcats with Kaleb Jenness leading the pack with 12 while Blake Reardon finished the night with 11 and Bryce Behrendt turned in a 10 kill performance.
The Ball State men's volleyball team will close out its MIVA regular season action at McKendree Saturday night at 8 p.m. ET in the Melvin Price Convocation Center.
