Men’s Tennis Sweeps Binghamton In MAC Action Friday

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Ball State men's tennis team opened this weekend's Mid-American Conference action with a 7-0 sweep on the road at Binghamton Friday afternoon at the Binghamton Tennis Center.
With the win, No. 46 Cardinals improved to 13-3 overall and 2-2 in MAC play while Binghamton dropped to 0-4 overall and in league action.
Ball State started the contest with wins at two of the three doubles positions. Bryce Bonin and Eli Herran combined for a 6-2 win at the No. 3 spot over Adi Ben and Diego Ramos.
Shortly after, Binghamton took the top court from Ball State Thibault de Negri and Parrish Simmons would clinch the doubles point yet again on court two with their 6-4 defeat against Dan Pergel and Joshua Kim.
Hot off of the double point, BSU's true freshman Sajin Smith made a quick exist on court four after only giving up three games to Kim. De Negri pushed the Cardinals cushion to 3-0 at the No. 2 slot winning in straight sets over his opponent.
Today's match point came from Ball State's No. 1 singles player Danilo Kovacevic who took a three-set thriller (6-3, 5-7, 6-3) over Michael Pawlowicz.
After that, Herran and Simmons claimed straight set victories on their respective courts to make the score 5-0 with one match left.
Chris Adams would earn a come from behind victory after dropping the first set to Shourya Verma 4-6. He then fought back on court three, taking frames two (6-3) and three (6-2) to complete the Cardinals sweep.
The Ball State men's tennis team will wrap up its two-match MAC series in New York when it plays at Buffalo Sunday. First serve is at 11 a.m. ET.
