Cardinals Win On The Road At Bowling Green In MAC Action Sunday, 5-2
April 11, 2021 | Women's Tennis
PERRYSBURG, Ohio - It was a long match today, four hours and 10 minutes to be exact, but the Cardinals once again proved why they are the top team in the Mid-American Conference after Ball State took the doubles point and four singles matches to roll past Bowling Green, 5-2, at the Perrysburg Tennis Center Sunday afternoon.
Par for the course, it was Silvia Martinez who would push Ball State's lead to 2-0 after her quick two set exit at No. 6 singles. BGSU then evened the score at two apiece after taking courts two and five from the Cardinals, respectively.
After that, veteran Rebecca Herrington, who only gave up three games to Kapitanova at the No. 4 slot earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory giving BSU back its lead.
Peeler then solidified the win as she finished off Tavpash on the top court in a three-set thriller, 7-5, 5-7, 7-5. Jessica Braun would close out today's match also winning at position three.
The Ball State women's tennis team continues its quest for the Mid-American Conference title when it returns home for two matches next weekend. The Cardinals are set to host Eastern Michigan on Friday and Buffalo on Sunday with both matches beginning at 1 p.m. ET.
