Men’s Golf Wraps up Play at Boilermaker Invite

Tyler Green finishes top 5 in individual event
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- The Ball State men's golf team finished 16th at this weekend's Boilermaker Invitational on Purdue's Kampen Course.
Tyler Green was the highlight for the Cardinals, tying for fourth out of 36 golfers in the tournament's individual event contested next door on the Ackerman-Allen Course. Green closed with a round of 73 on Sunday to finish at 3 under par over 54 holes.
In the team event on the Kampen Course, Ball State closed with a team round of 301 to finish with a 54-hole total of 903 (+39). Joey Ranieri led the way in the final round with a 72, while CJ Jones shot 73. Ranieri was the top BSU player on the final leaderboard in a tie for 54th.
Kent State came from behind in the final round to win the title, closing with a 279 to edge sixth-ranked Illinois by two shots at 12 under par. The field this weekend featured eight of the top 100 teams in the national rankings.
Ball State now turns its attention to next weekend's Hawkeye Invitational and its final tuneup for the MAC Championships. The Hawkeye Invite is set for Saturday and Sunday on the Finkbine Golf Course in Iowa City.
