Men’s Golf Set for Trinity Forest Invitational in Dallas
March 06, 2021 | Men's Golf
The Ball State men's golf team is headed to Dallas a little bit later than usual this season.
This marks the fourth year for SMU's Trinity Forest Invitational, and the Cardinals have played in each of the previous three editions.
Typically a September tournament, this year's event moved to the spring with the fall schedule wiped out by the COVID-19 pandemic. The action features 54 holes over three days starting Sunday at Trinity Forest, site of the PGA Tour's AT&T Byron Nelson.
The course is familiar to four members of the Ball State lineup -- Tyler Green, Joey Ranieri, Jack Cunningham and Yianni Kostouros. All have competed in the event at least once previously, and Cunningham and Kostouros have both been there twice. Ranieri finished top 25 last year.
Junior college transfer Sterling McIlravy will be making his first appearance and his first stroke play start for the Cardinals who opened last month with the Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play.
Green went 3-0-0 for BSU at the match play event on his way to MAC Golfer of the Week honors and enters the Trinity Forest Invitational at the No. 1 spot in the lineup.
SMU, the 14th-ranked team in the country, headlines a field that also features No. 18 North Texas. The field also includes Abilene Christian, Florida Atlantic, Lamar, Little Rock, Louisville, Kansas City, Rice, TCU, Sam Houston, UT Arlington and UTSA.

.@TylerGreen11's road hasn't always been easy. But this guy has persevered through injuries and is playing the best golf of his career.
