Overdijkink Earns MAC Defensive Player of the Week Honors

CLEVELAND, Ohio - For the second-straight week, the Ball State field hockey team has earned the Mid-American Conferences' Defensive Player of the Week award with this week's recipient being sophomore goalie Wietske Overdijkink.
Overdijkink turned away 13 shots over the course of two hotly contested matches against Longwood this past weekend at the Briner Sports Complex.
She earned Ball State its first shutout of the season on Saturday, March 27 with the Cardinals 1-0 victory over Longwood.
Overdijkink faced 16 corners over the course of the weekend and held down a defensive unit that allowed only one goal in those attempts.
She currently leads the league with a .810 save percentage following last weekend's matches.
The Ball State field hockey remains at home this weekend when it hosts Bellarmine in non-conference action beginning Friday, April 2 at 1 p.m. ET in the Briner Sports Complex. Please note that in the fall of 2021 Bellarmine will join the Mid-American Conference in field hockey.
