
Field Hockey Places Full Roster On National Academic Squad

BROCKPORT, N.Y. - Ball State third-year field hockey head coach Stephanie Bernthal and her Cardinals made program history by placing the entire 24-member squad on the 2020 NFHCA (National Field Hockey College Association) Academic Squad. The total is the second-most amongst all NCAA Division I field hockey programs this season.
The National Academic Squad began in 2001, and this year's 24 representatives under Bernthal are the most Ball State has every placed on the list. Bernthal's squad had 16 players earn the accolade last season.
The Division I National Academic Squad program honors student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.3-or-higher through the first semester of the 2020-2021 academic year.
The Ball State student-athletes named to the team were: Halle Baisas, Rachel Bohn, Gina Caravaglia, Grace Chavez, Alex Conrad, Maureen Donegan, Abigail Ferenczy, Sarah Fondel, Michaela Graney, Caitlyn Grodzicki, Emma Hilton, Elyse Horner, Sierra Jefferson, Hannah Johnston, Sierra Jefferson*, Hannah Johnston, Lexi Kansky, Libby Kraus, Kerrianne McClay, Jenna McKune*, Angel Nkosi, Wietske Overdijkink, Rachel Pereira*, Callie Rumbaugh, Jessica Scheper and Audrey Tabor.
Student-athletes who have received National Academic Squad recognition for four years have been marked with an asterisk.

Note: Due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, freshman Paloma Gomez Rengifo, who hails from Madrid, Spain, was unable to begin her Ball State career until the 2021 spring semester.
