Behrendt & Jenness’ 14 Kills Apiece Leads MVB Past Quincy
March 20, 2021 | Men's Volleyball
QUINCY, Ill. - The Cardinals five-game road swing was a challenge that Ball State most certainly reckoned with after turning in another dominating performance Saturday night earning a 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-19) sweep over Quincy in Pepsi Arena.
Ball State (10-4, 7-3 MIVA) was very efficient in all aspects of the game especially on offense connecting for a .463 attack percentage against the Hawks (4-9, 1-9 MIVA) to complete the two-match series sweep. With the win, BSU has extended its win streak to three.
In addition to the Cardinals offense, Ball State also turned in an impressive display on defense with 23 digs and eight blocks.
The Cardinals charge was led by Bryce Behrendt and Kaleb Jenness each having 14 kills apiece. Blake Reardon also reached double figures in kills for the second-straight night with 13. Behrendt registered an impressive .545 hitting percentage after limiting himself to only two attack errors.
Ball State was in the driver's seat pretty much the entire contest tonight from start to finish.
Quincy did have a slight edge over the Cardinals in set two but BSU was able to quickly turn things around to come out on top late in the second frame. BSU went on to take the second set from the Hawks, 25-21.
After that, the Cardinals took the final set from the Hawks fairly quickly which made the trip back to Muncie tonight a little quicker for BSU.
The Ball State men's volleyball team returns home next weekend for a two-match MIVA series against Loyola Chicago. First serve for both matches is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. ET.
