Garberick Earns MAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week Honors

CLEVELAND, Ohio - - For his part in helping guide the Ball State men's swimming program to a win over Xavier last Sunday at the Butler Invite, freshman Joey Garberick has been named the Mid-American Conference Men's Swimmer of the Week.
Garberick swept both breaststroke events at the Butler Invite, leading the Cardinals to an 827.5 - 738.5 victory over the Musketeers.
In helping lead Ball State to a perfect 3-0 mark in the pool to start the year, Garberick moved into second in program history with a time of 55.19 in the 100 breaststroke. He followed with the fourth-fastest time in program history in the 200 breaststroke at 2:03.57.
In addition to placing him in the top five in the Ball State record books, Garberick's 100 breaststroke time is the second-fastest in the league based on the MAC Performance List, while his 200 breaststroke is time ranks third.
Garberick also swam the second leg for the first-place 200 medley relay which opened the Butler Invite with a time of 1:32.80. He also placed fourth in the 50 free by touching the wall in 21.63.
