Swimming & Diving Back in Action at House of Champions

MUNCIE, Ind. - - The Ball State swimming & diving program closes the fall portion of its 2021-22 slate this week, when it travels to the IUPUI Natatorium for the House of Champions Invitational which runs Thursday (Nov. 18) through Saturday (Nov. 20).
In addition to the Cardinals and host Jaguars, Butler, Green Bay, Illinois, Indianapolis, Lewis, Milwaukee and UIC are expected to compete in the three-day meet.
Over the course of the three days, both BSU men's and women's squads will compete in the following events:
Thursday, Nov. 18 - 10a Prelims / 6p Finals
500 Freestyle, 200 IM, 50 Freestyle, 200 Freestyle Relay, 400 Medley Relay
Friday, Nov. 19 - 10a Prelims / 1p Diving / 6p Finals
100 Butterfly, 400 IM, 200 Freestyle, 100 Breaststroke, 100 Backstroke, 1m Diving (W), 3m Diving (M), 200 Medley Relay, 800 Freestyle Relay

IN THE MAC RANKINGS - WOMEN:
In the latest USA Swimming Mid-American Conference Top Times report, the Ball State women's squad has 14 student-athletes ranked in scoring position in their respective events through the first four meets of the season.
In addition, three Cardinals are ranked in the top 16 in the 50 backstroke.

IN THE DIVING WELL:
With a score of 276.00 on the 1M diving board in her Lewellen Aquatic Center debut vs. Ohio (Oct. 30), freshman Ashleigh Provan qualified for the 2022 NCAA Zone Diving Championships … The score to beat on the 1M board was 265 … She was also close to a zone cut on the 3M board with her score of 272.63 falling just shy of the qualifying mark of 280.
On the men's side, junior Wyatt Blake was also impressive in his 2021-22 home debut, winning the 1M diving competition with a NCAA Zone Diving cut of 320.10 versus Miami (Oct. 28) … The mark to beat on the one-meter board was 300.
EVENT WINNERS:
So far this season, Ball State's student-athletes have picked up 44 total individual event wins and three relay victories … Junior Apsara Sakbun and sophomore Marcella Ribeiro lead the women's squad with four individual wins apiece … For the men, junior Owen Chaye, sophomore Joey Garberick, and junior Bryce Handshoe are tied for the team lead with three individual wins each.
