
Kansky’s OT Game Winner Pushes Field Hockey Past App State

MUNCIE, Ind. - Junior Lexi Kansky's second career goal was a big one, as she helped the Ball State field hockey team move past App State with the game-winner in Friday's 1-0 overtime victory at the Briner Sports Complex.
With the win, tine Cardinals improved to 4-8 overall and to 2-2 in Mid-American Conference action. The Mountaineers fall to 4-5 on the year, including a 1-2 mark in league play.

Kansky found the net at the 65:37 mark in overtime, expertly deflecting a shot from freshman Agostina Guidice past the keeper. The goal was Kansky's second of the season and for her career.

The game was a defensive battle for the entire 60 minutes of regulation. The Mountaineers drew eight corners while the Cardinals had five, but neither could capitalize on those opportunities.
Defensively, sophomore goalkeeper Hannah Johnston got the win for BSU and had a personal best 10 saves.
The Ball State field hockey team continues its home weekend Sunday, when it hosts No. 6 Northwestern at the Briner Sports Complex beginning at noon.
