DENVER, Colo. - The Ball State men's golf team wrapped up action at the UD Paintbrush Invite on Tuesday at the Colorado Golf Club. The two-day event was hosted by the University of Denver.
After a slow start, the Cardinals managed to end the tournament with an eighth place finish out of 11 teams moving up a couple spots after the opening day. Ball State finished with a total team score of 916 ahead of Santa Clara, Wichita State and Wyoming.
Joey Ranieri, who has had a successful fall so far this season, ended the event tied for a fifth-place finish after shooting a 77 in the opening round on Monday while flourishing in the second round with a one under par (71) and then finished the today with a 74. Ranieri's last two rounds were well under the field scoring average amongst all of the participants.
Evan Bone also turned in a solid performance tying for 44th (231) with his best showing in the second round shooting a 76.
The Ball State men's golf team returns to action Oct. 11-12 at the Purdue Fall Invitational at the Kampen Golf Course in West Lafayette, Ind.
