WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - It was the toughest field the Ball State men's golf team had faced this season. Seven of the 12 teams are ranked in Golfweek's most-recent rankings (as of Oct. 7), led by the host Boilermakers at No. 25.
It was also the first time the Cardinals had started four freshmen in their lineup in head coach Mike Fleck's 24-year tenure.
For the third time this season, Joey Ranieri led the Cardinals this fall. Ranieri had wrapped up yesterday's competition tied for fifth place after shooting a 72. Monday's play was suspended due to inclement weather. Ranieri would then finish the tournament tied for a 14th place finish after today's second and third rounds.
The Cardinals carded their best round of the tournament in the second round with a team score of 300.
The Ball State men's golf team will wrap up fall action on Monday (Oct. 18) and Tuesday (Oct. 19) at the Dayton Flyer Invitational which will be played at the NCR South Course.
