MUNCIE, Ind. - For the first time under 24th-year head coach Mike Fleck, the Ball State men's golf team will start four freshmen in its lineup at the Purdue Fall Invitational at the Kampen Golf Course in West Lafayette, Ind, starting on Monday (Oct. 11) and will end Tuesday (Oct. 12).
The 12 teams in the field will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday, via shotgun start. Action is slated to begin at 9 a.m. ET, Monday and 9:30 a.m., on Tuesday.
The field is comprised of mostly Big Ten and Mid-American schools. Seven of the 12 teams are ranked in Golfweek's most-recent rankings (as of Oct. 7), led by the Boilermakers at No. 25, Indiana at No. 32 and Kent State at No. 33. Other teams participating are Ball State, Cincinnati, Marquette, Northern Illinois, Illinois State, Minnesota, Toledo and Eastern Michigan.
For Ball State, the Cardinals lineup will include senior Joey Ranieri, freshman Kash Bellar, freshman Colin Nasser, redshirt freshmen Griffin Hare and Ali Khan. Ranieri has had an impressive fall season leading the Cardinals in every competition but one as he came in second at the Earl Yestingsmeier Invite.
