ST. CHARLES, Mo. – Aside from set two, the Ball State men's volleyball team could not find its offensive flow Friday night as the Cardinals suffered a 3-1 defeat to Lindenwood at Hyland Arena.

SET-BY-SET SUMMARY
Set One (LU 25, BSU 21)- Early indications were a close matchup as the two teams were tied at 20 apiece late in the opening frame. Lindenwood changed that narrative with three-straight points and five of the last six in the set to take the 1-0 lead.
Set Two (BSU 25, LU 17)- It appeared the Cardinals found their stride in set two, running away midway through. Chinnici led a 5-0 run from the service line to put BSU up seven and the team closed the set on a Blake Reardon kill.
Set Three (LU 25, BSU 21)- Ball State's momentum appeared to carry over to the third set when the Cardinals started off 3-0. Lindenwood responded though with an 11-3 stretch and BSU could never recover.
Set Four (LU 25, BSU 20)- The Lions looked to be running away with the final set with a 17-12 lead. Ball State showed signs of life with three-straight points to trim the deficit to two, but it was in vain as Lindenwood quickly put together a 6-1 run to put the match out of reach.
BALL STATE NOTES
-Friday's loss marked just the fourth time Ball State has ever lost to Lindenwood. The Cardinals own a 17-4 advantage in the series.
-Despite the loss, Jenness registered his fifth 20-kill performance of the season. He had just two in 2019.
