Cardinals Rebound by Sweeping Quincy

QUINCY, Ill. – After a disappointing loss at Lindenwood the night before, the Ball State men's volleyball team bounced back by sweeping Quincy Saturday night at Pepsi Arena.
TEAM RECORDS
Ball State improved to 10-6 overall with the win and 3-3 in MIVA play. The Hawks dropped to 4-13 and 1-5 in league competition.
IMPACT PERFORMANCE
Senior Blake Reardon led BSU in both kills (15) and blocks (20). Reardon's 15 kills came on an impressive .407 hitting percentage.

SET-BY-SET SUMMARY
Set One (BSU 25, QU 20)- Ball State could never score more than two points in a row in the first set, but it scored back-to-back points on eight separate occasions to gain plenty of separation and take a 1-0 lead in the match.
Set Two (BSU 25, QU 18)- The Cardinals asserted themselves early in the second set with a 5-1 run and continued that dominance later in the set with a 5-0 run. After leading by as many as seven, Quincy couldn't get any closer than six the rest of the way.
Set Three (BSU 25, 20)- The final set was by far the most competitive as the Hawks held a late lead with the score at 20-19. Will Hippe then stepped up to the service line and led the Cardinals on a 6-0 run to complete the sweep in convincing fashion.
BALL STATE NOTES
-The sweep was Ball State's seventh of the season.
-The Cardinals have now defeated Quincy in 52 of 57 all-time meetings.
-BSU improved to 4-1 this season on the second night of back-to-back matches.
