Pease: "We Took A Step Forward Today"
November 07, 2020 | Cross Country
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - In what amounted to a practice run for the upcoming MAC Cross Country Championships, Ball State placed sixth at the Falcon Invitational at Bowling Green.
"Today was a good step forward," distance coach Sarah Pease said. "Everyone competed well and we're excited for the championship in two weeks."
Among eight teams and 88 runners, was just six points out of fifth and once again got a solid run from Elka Machan. The freshman was eighth overall with a 21:59 mark, running with the lead pack 19 seconds ahead of the runner behind her. Cayla Eckenroth placed 18th (22:33) and Emmalyne Tarsa 31st (23:12). Ball State entered nine runners, and three (Tarsa, Karleigh Conner, Emma Cunningham) improved their times compared to last week's Cardinal Classic. Machan and Eckenroth have been BSU's top two finishers in both meets this season.
Bowling Green's Kailee Perry was the first finisher, 18 seconds before anyone else.Â
