Cross Country Team Ventures to Evansville for Great Lakes Regional

EVANSVILLE, Ind. -- Ball State cross country runners take part in the NCAA Great Lakes Regional competition Friday afternoon (4 p.m. ET/3 p.m. CT), navigating a 6K course at Angel Mounds State Historic Site in Evansville. The Cardinals participate as one of 35 teams from Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin. Nine different conferences will have runners in competition on Friday.
Representing Ball State are four runners -- Carly Spletzer, Emily Decker, Kendyl Thrasher and Maci Hoskins -- who approach the regional with hopes of bettering their best career times in the event. Last year for the Cardinals, six of seven Ball State runners did just that.
Spletzer, a senior, enters the race with a personal-best 6K time of 20:52.2 which she set in last year's Great Lakes Regional race in Norton, Ohio. Decker, a freshman, boasts a personal-best in the 6K of 21:47.8, which she set Oct. 17 at the Bradley Pink Classic. Juniors Hoskins and Thrasher round out the Cardinals lineup. Thrasher set her personal record of 23:42.0 in this year's Bradley Pink Classic. Hoskins set a 6K best during her freshman year with a time of 23:51.7.
