Opening Tip:
- Saturday's game against Kent State will mark the 60th time in program history the two schools have me with the Golden Flashes leading the all-time series, 38-21.
- The Cardinals have won seven of their last nine meetings against Kent State.
- In 2018-19, Ball State defeated Kent State by a score of 48-44 in Worthen Arena. The win marked the 21st year the Cardinals had not lost at home to Kent State.
- Both Ball State head coach Brady Sallee and assistant coach Ryan Patterson both had coaching stints at Kent State. Sallee was an assistant women's basketball coach from 1996-2002. Patterson was a member of the Golden Flashes men's staff from 2000-2002. He returned to Kent State as a women's basketball assistant in 2011-12.
- The last time Ball State fell to the Golden Flashes was three years ago after suffering a 59-50 setback on Feb. 13 in the M.A.C Center.Â
Scouting Kent State:
- The Golden Flashes (7-4) posted season-best totals in points, rebounds (53) and assists (25) during Monday's 92-36 victory over Hiram in the non-conference play finale. Clare Kelly drained five three-pointers and totaled a career-high 20 points to lead Kent State in victory. Hannah Young posted career-best totals of 14 points and eight rebounds in 18 minutes off the bench. Point guards Mariah Modkins and Asiah Dingle combined for 17 assists and only two turnovers. Modkins had nine dimes in 21 minutes of action off the bench and single game recorded eight assists to go with 17 points on 8-of-9 shooting.
- Last season Kent State won the MAC East Division title for the first time since the 2004-05 season which was under former head coach Bob Lindsay. Both current Ball State head coach Brady Sallee and assistant coach Ryan Patterson coached with the Golden Flashes legendary former coach.
- The Golden Flashes are led in scoring by Nila Blackford who is averaging 13.5 points per contest and 7.5 rebounds.
- The first-ever meeting between Ball State and Kent State was the 1979-80 season. The Golden Flashes won that meeting by a score of 84-59 in Ohio.
