Setting the Stage
Ball State enters its home tournament this week fresh off a third-place showing in the season-opening Redbird Invitational. This week's 11-team team field features three other Mid-American Conference squads.
Ball State finished tops among the five MAC teams at the Redbird Invite. Manon Tounalom led the Cardinals with a tie for third, matching her career-best 54-hole mark of 217, for her third straight top-10 finish at Illinois State's event. Hadley Moritz joined her in the top 10, matching her career-best finish with a tie for eighth and leading the field in par-5 scoring.
BSU has hosted the Cardinal Classic every year but one since the 2001-02 season and is looking for its first championship since 2012. The Cardinals tied for second last year behind top-10 finishes from Liz Kim (T6) and Morgan Lewis (T8).
