Women’s Golf Ties for Second at Cardinal Classic

Kim, Lewis, Tounalom all place among top 12 individually
YORKTOWN, Ind. -- Freshman Morgan Lewis led the way with a 75 in Tuesday's final round at the Cardinal Classic as the Ball State women's golf team held on to a share of second.
The Cardinals placed three golfers among the top 12, led by Liz Kim in a tie for sixth. Lewis tied for eighth, while Manon Tounalom tied for 11th.
Ball State carded a team score of 307 on Tuesday to finish at 307 (+37) over the three rounds at The Players Club. Southern Illinois moved up on the final day to tie the Cardinals for second place.
Reigning Division II national champion UIndy extended its overnight lead to defend its 2017 Cardinal Classic championship with a score of 866 (+2).
UIndy's Kennedy Holtsclaw finished as the only player in red figures at 3 under par, three shots clear of teammate Pilar Echeverria for individual medalist honors.
In addition to the 75 from Lewis, Ball State also counted a 76 from Kim, a 77 from Tounalom and a 79 from freshman Hadley Moritz in round three.
Kim posted a career-best 54-hole total of 222 (+6), seven shots better than any previous tournament. Lewis (+7) and Tounalom (+8) finished right behind her.
The Cardinal Classic was Ball State's second tournament of the season. The team will return to action Sept. 29-30 at Iowa's Diane Thomason Invitational.
