
Women's Tennis Sweeps Buffalo; Norris Earns 100th Career Win

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State women's tennis team took down the Mid-American Conference reigning champion Buffalo this afternoon with a 7-0 sweep at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center, marking head coach Max Norris' 100th career win.
With the win, the Cardinals improved to 14-4 overall and 3-2 in conference play while the Bulls fall to 13-5 for the year and 2-2 in league action.
The No. 2 doubles tandem of senior Audrey Berger and junior Rebecca Herrington fought back after being down 3-4 against the Bulls' Pia Schwarz and Arianna Aldrey. Berger and Herrington took the next two games for the 6-4 victory, for the first doubles win of the day. On court three, seniors Isabelle Dohanics and Peyton Gollhofer beat UB's Hsin-Yuan Shih and Emel Abibula by a score of 6-3 to give Ball State the early 1-0 edge over Buffalo.
The Cardinals' started singles play off strong, taking first sets on five of the six courts from the Bulls. Gollhofer remained undefeated in league action, as she earned the second point of the day for BSU, beating Nikoleta Antoniou-Karademitrou, 6-4, 6-0 at the No. 2 slot. Berger followed on the top court, winning in straight sets over Chantal Blanco, 6-3, 6-1.
With Ball State up 3-0 in the match, four courts remained, senior Sarah Swiderski earned the match point for the Cardinals, with her two set tiebreaker at position three.
Ball State also found success on the remaining three courts as sophomore Victoria Sec, Herrington and Dohanics all registered victories at their respective positions.
The Ball State women's tennis team continues Mid-American Conference action when it plays at Northern Illinois on Sunday, April 14. The match is set to begin at noon.
