Women's Tennis Dominates Play Over NIU

ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Ball State women's tennis team (15-4, 4-2 MAC) registered its second-straight Mid-American Conference sweep when it took down Northern Illinois (5-15, 0-7 MAC) on the road Sunday afternoon at the Boylan Tennis Center.
The No. 2 duo of Peyton Gollhofer and Isabelle Dohanics dominated doubles action, as the twosome was the first off the court for the Cardinals. Gollhofer and Dohanics defeated NIU's Fernanda Naves and Brodie Walker, 6-3. The point was then clinched on the top court after Victoria Sec and Sarah Swiderski registered a 6-1 take down against the Huskies' Lara Sisko and Paula Veyhle.
Ball State took all six singles victories from Northern Illinois. Rebecca Herrington and Audrey Berger claimed wins on courts three and one, respectively, giving the Cardinals the 3-0 edge over the Huskies. Dohancis then earned match point with her 6-1, 6-0 take down over Julia Dmitrieva at the No. 4 slot.
The Ball State women's tennis team wraps up Mid-American Conference regular season action at home Saturday against Akron. First serve is at 1 p.m. at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center, weather permitting. The Cardinals will also pay tribute to their four seniors prior to the match.
