
Ackley’s School Record, Ongay’s Honor Highlight Final Day of MAC Championships

OXFORD, Ohio – Ball State's Logan Ackley broke his own school record in the 200 backstroke Thursday, and Hunter Ongay was named Mid-American Conference Freshman Diver of the Year on the final day of the MAC Men's Swimming & Diving Championships.
Ackley swam a time of 1:48.74 to finish fourth in the 200 back, while Ongay placed seventh in the 3 meter dive with a score of 255.85.
The host Miami RedHawks maintained the top spot among the teams to win the league championship with a score of 957.5 over the four days at Corwin Nixon Natatorium. Missouri State (899) was second, while Ball State (320.5) finished fifth.
The Cardinals also had competitors in Thursday's 1650 freestyle final, where Davis Meyn placed 13th with a time of 16:28.46 and Jack Luddy swam a lifetime-time best 16:51.84 to take 16th.
Ball State was also active in various consolation finals, highlighted by fourth-place finishes from Luke Nondorf in the 200 breaststroke (2:08.29) and Adam Pongracz in the 200 fly (1:55.94).
Duncan McLarty swam a lifetime-best 46.46 to finish fifth in the 100 free consolation final, while Bennet Witteveen clocked a lifetime-best 1:57.20 to finish right behind Pongracz in the 200 fly.
