Bertram to Compete in Diving Zones, Swimmers Cap Year at NIC
March 13, 2019 | Men's Swimming and Diving, Women's Swimming and Diving
MUNCIE, Ind. – Rachel Bertram has qualified for NCAA Diving Zones and will participate in that competition starting Thursday while the remainder of the Ball State swimming and diving team concludes its season at the National Invitational Championship Thursday through Saturday.
The diving competition takes place in West Lafayette, Indiana at Purdue University while the NIC will be hosted by Cleveland State University in Ohio. Diving zones open Thursday at 1 p.m. ET with the 3-meter competition and then resume Saturday at the same time with the 1-meter. Bertram will be looking to qualify for the NCAA Championships. Preliminary rounds for the swimmers will start each day at 9:30 a.m. ET with finals to follow at 6 p.m. ET.
The Cardinals are fresh off the Mid-American Conference Championships where they set several personal and school records along with multiple additions to the school's top-10 times list. The most notable were school records in the women's 200 Free Relay, the men's 100 Fly and the men's 200 Back.
Bertram's qualifying zone cut occurred early in the season at Bowling Green. At that meet, the junior scored a 290.48 on the 3-meter and 241.05 on the 1-meter. Both of those results were good for second place. This is the third-consecutive season that Bertram has qualified for the NCAA Zones.
A recap of each day will be posted to BallStateSports.com.
