Longest trip of the year starts with 4 games in Charleston
Nine games in 10 days. Two states, three cities.The Ball State baseball team is on spring break.
BSU has two games against Charleston Southern and Notre Dame before heading to Florida for five games in Orlando and Port Charlotte. Ball State defeated Alabama 8-5 last weekend and also owns a win over Cal State Bakersfield.
Ball Diamond at First Merchants Complex in Muncie and Notre Dame's Eck Stadium are 145 miles apart, but they'll meet this year in South Carolina. The two Indiana schools last met in 2010 and played annually during the 2000's. Rich Maloney is 12-4 all-time against the Irish. His early BSU teams won two of three in the late 90's. During his time at Michigan, Maloney was 10-3 against ND.
Infielder Noah Navarro leads the team in average (.346), hits (9), OBP (.400) and RBIs (5). Griffin Hulecki is batting .333 and leads the team with three XBH.
Drey Jameson and Chayce McDermott, a pair of righties who have combined for 28 strikeouts in 18 innings, are scheduled to start. Kyle Nicolas bounced back from a short start in the opening weekend to record a save at Alabama last weekend.
All-Time Series
Saturday morning's contest will be the 32nd meeting between Ball State and Notre Dame. BSU is 12-19 all-time against the Irish dating back to 1976. Notre Dame has won the last five meetings and Ball State's last win over Notre Dame was a 14-5 victory in 2005.Â
Ball State has won three straight against Charleston Southern and is 5-1 against CSU in a series that dates back to 1994. The two teams last played in March 1998, with Ball State winning two games. CSU's only win against Ball State came in 1996.

After the four games in South Carolina, Ball State will bus down to Orlando to play a true road game at UCF before playing four neutral-site games at the Snowbird Classic near Fort Myers, Fla.
