Teague Shares MAC West Player of the Week after Two Winning Performances
November 18, 2019 | Men's Basketball
MUNCIE, Ind. -- After averaging a near double-double over two quality wins away from home, Ball State's Tahjai Teague was named the Co-MAC West Division Player of the Week.
Â
Teague averaged 20 points and 9.5 rebounds while also adding a pair of assists, steals and blocks per game as the BSU men's basketball team won by double digits at UIC and against rival Indiana State at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
Â
The fifth-year senior from Indianapolis racked up 22 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks in front of a hometown crowd Sunday. He went 10-for-13 from the floor to lead the Cardinals to their third straight victory over the Sycamores, 69-55.
Â
Earlier in the week, Teague scored 18 points and pulled down nine boards in a 67-48 victory over a UIC team picked to finish third in the Horizon League.Â
Â
Teague shared this week's honor with Toledo center Luke Knapke. The preseason all-conference pick leads Ball State with averages of 17.8 points and 7.8 rebounds through four games while shooting 57.7 percent from the floor.
Â
The Cardinals are 3-1 with their only loss coming in a tight one on the road against an Evansville team that beat then-No. 1 Kentucky three days later.
Â
BSU now returns home for five games in a row, starting Wednesday with a 7 p.m. tipoff against 2019 NCAA Tournament team Northern Kentucky. Ball State alumna and former soccer player Lauren Hall, a recent contestant on NBC's The Voice, will perform the national anthem and will be available for a pregame meet and greet starting at 6 p.m.
Â
The Cardinals will then host Howard as part of a Saturday men's and women's doubleheader on BSU's annual Toys for Tots collection day. Specially-priced tickets and Student Rewards bonus points are available for fans who bring a toy to donate.
