Ball State Basketball Teams Up with Toys for Tots
November 18, 2019 | Men's Basketball, Women's Basketball
Specially-priced tickets with donation of a toy at Saturday doubleheader
MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Ball State men's and women's basketball programs, in partnership with the U.S. Marine Corps League Mounds Detachment from Anderson and the Muncie Fire Department, will host a Toys for Tots collection event in conjunction with the hoops doubleheader Saturday, Nov. 23 at Worthen Arena.
Â
Each fan who brings a toy to donate will receive specially-priced $6 (bronze section) or $10 (silver) tickets for the doubleheader which features the women's squad against Butler (1 p.m.) and the men facing off against Howard (3:30 p.m.).
Â
Ball State students are encouraged to participate, as well, with 50 student rewards bonus points accumulated for a donated toy.Â
Â
Fans may drop off their donated toys inside the ground level lobby of Gate 1 at Worthen Arena beginning 60 minutes before tipoff of the women's game Saturday and through halftime of the men's game. Those unable to attend the game may drop off a donated toy at the same location on Monday, Nov. 25, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.Â
Â
The mission of the U. S. Marine Corps League Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.Â
Â
The Mounds Detachment is the official Toys for Tots coordinator for Madison and Henry Counties and other parts of Central Indiana. The Muncie Fire Department has carried the flag for the Toys for Tots program in Muncie since the 1970's in partnership with the local Salvation Army. In more than 30 years, these groups have collected and distributed more than 180,000 toys to nearly 60,000 children.
Â
Fans with questions should contact the Stoops Buick/GMC Ticket Center at 765-285-1474.
