Women’s Tennis Postpones Opener; Hosts Dayton Monday
January 19, 2019 | Women's Tennis
MUNCIE, IND. - The Ball State women's tennis team had to postpone its spring opener to Monday (Jan. 21) due to inclement weather. The Cardinals will now host Dayton at 1 p.m. in the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center.
The match is part of a doubleheader and follows the BSU men's match with Eastern Illinois at 1 p.m. The men's team opened its season last week at Indiana.
Last year, the Cardinals lost a tight 4-3 match on the road at Dayton. Prior to that, Ball State had won four straight over the Flyers.
The Cardinals return a veteran group this season with four seniors: Audrey Berger, Isabelle Dohanics, Peyton Gollhofer and Sarah Swiderski. Berger, Dohanics and Gollhofer have been part of two Mid-American Conference regular season championships and helped the Cardinals to their first-ever MAC Tournament title and appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
Ball State is led by sixth-year head coach Max Norris, who enters this season with an overall record of 86-32 and 28-10 in league action.
The Cardinals will go on the road next weekend, traveling to play Jan. 25 at Louisville (noon) and Jan. 26 at Northern Kentucky (10:30 a.m.).
