MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State field hockey team is set to play two games on the road this weekend in North Carolina as the Cardinals take on Appalachian State Friday at 3 p.m. and No. 1 North Carolina Sunday at 1 p.m.
The Cardinals (0-8, 0-1 MAC) are coming off a near win over UC Davis Monday at the Briner Sports Complex. Ball State lost in overtime by a score of 5-4. The Cardinals had four different players find the net: Sierra Jefferson, Michelle Shampton, Haley Jolly and Rachel Pereira. Pereira scored as time was winding down in the second half to send the game into overtime.
Appalachian State enters Friday's contest with an overall record of 4-6 and holds a 0-2 Mid-American Conference ledger. The Mountaineers have suffered losses to Ohio (1-0) and Longwood (4-3, OT).
