Opening Pitch: Ball State is set to play five games in six days this week beginning with a pair of midweek non-conference games. The Cardinals have already faced both these teams this year. Miami won two of three games in Muncie the weekend of April 13-15. Ball State took down Purdue in West Lafayette on April 10, 2-0.

Ball State has won seven straight games entering Tuesday's contest. Over the last seven games, the Cardinals are hitting .302 as a team and three players are hitting better than .400 – OF Colin Brockhouse (.452), 1B John Ricotta (.438) and OF Jeff Riedel (.414).

• OF Jeff Riedel is riding a team season-high 15 game hitting streak and hitting .433 in that stretch.

• The Cardinals have won the last two non-conference meetings against Miami – a 4-0 win in March 2015 and a 13-7 victory in the opening round of the 2013 MAC Tournament.

• Ball State's 2-0 win at Purdue in April was the first time the Cardinals shutout Purdue in West Lafayette since 1996.

• RHP Evan Marquardt threw two shutout innings at Purdue in April. He is expected to start against the Boilermakers on Wednesday.
