Cardinals Even Series with BGSU Thanks to 9-3 Win
April 21, 2018 | Baseball
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Ball State baseball team scored in three of the first four innings and cruised to a 9-3 win over Bowling Green Saturday afternoon at Steller Field.
Senior Jeff Riedel notched RBI singles in the first and second innings to help Ball State (18-19, 6-8 MAC) quickly jump out to a 4-0 lead after two innings. Junior Griffin Hulecki and senior Colin Brockhouse tallied RBIs in the fourth inning to extend the lead to 6-0.
That would be plenty of run support for freshman pitcher Drey Jameson. The righty went 6.1 innings, struck out seven batters and only allowed one earned run. Jameson improved to 3-0 and lowered his ERA to 2.32 against league opponents. Sophomore reliever Nolan Gazouski tossed the final 2.1 innings and retired all seven batters he faced to keep Bowling Green (10-24, 5-7) from making another comeback.
Junior catcher Chase Sebby continued his outstanding play against MAC foes as he reached base four times and recorded a bases clearing double in the seventh inning. Sebby is hitting .415 in conference games and has an on-base percentage of .556.
For Bowling Green, third baseman Cam Daugherty went 3-for-3 at the plate with two doubles and scored two of the Falcons' three runs.
The two teams will play the rubber game of the series tomorrow, April 22, with first pitch set for 1:05 p.m.
