Biondic’s Seven RBIs Carries Maryland to Win Over Ball State

CONWAY, S.C. – Maryland defeated the Ball State baseball team in the finale of the Johnny Gardner Law Group Tournament Sunday afternoon, 13-1. The Terps won all three of their games at Coastal Carolina this weekend.
Maryland (7-4) jumped out quickly thanks to Kevin Biondic's three-run home run in the bottom of the first inning. The Terrapins blew open the game with multiple runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings.
Ball State's (4-6) lone run came from a Justin Kirkpatrick RBI double in the top of the ninth.
Biondic finished a double away from the cycle as the first baseman went 3-for-4 at the plate with a home run, triple and a career-high seven RBIs. Maryland's starting pitcher, Hunter Parsons, struck out seven batters and held Ball State to just four hits over seven innings.
This was the second meeting between the two teams. Ball State took down Maryland in the season opener last year, 8-3.
The Cardinals will continue their Spring Break trek this week with games at Gardner-Webb on Tuesday and Wednesday.
