MUNCIE, Ind. - - With this weekend's forecasted winter storm already forcing a schedule change, the Ball State track & field team will send a limited number of runners to Friday's Polar Bear Invitational hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University.
Â
The meet, which was moved from Saturday to Friday earlier in the week due to the projected inclement weather, will begin at 1 p.m. with action in the women's 4x100m relay at the IWU Track & Field Outdoor Complex.
Â
After battling cold temperatures, snow, sleet, rain and windy conditions to post eight event wins and a perfect 9-0 dual record versus NCAA Division I programs at last Saturday's Stan Lyons Invitational hosted by Butler, the Cardinals will compete in just two events Friday at the Polar Bear Invitational.
Â
First up for Ball State will be the 1,500m run at approximately 1:10 p.m., with five Cardinals competing in the race; freshman Cayla Eckenroth, sophomore Emma Maddelein, sophomore Meliza Rodriguez, sophomore Lauren Whitehouse and senior Kitty Taylor.
Â
Ball State's final entry will be freshman Kaylor Hoover in the 800m run at 3:30 p.m.
Â
The Ball State outdoor track & field team will look for a much better weather forecast their next time out, when part of the squad travels to NC State for the Raleigh Relays (March 30-31). Other members of the team are scheduled to complete in the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational (March 30-31) hosted by Cincinnati.
