Track & Field Earns Four Top 10s at Polar Bear Invitational

MARION, Ind. - - Ball State track & field runners earned four top 10s finishes and five career-best performances at the Indiana Wesleyan University Polar Bear Invitational Friday afternoon at the IWU Track & Field Outdoor Complex.

Leading the way for the Cardinals was freshman Kaylor Hoover who placed second in the 800m run with a career-fast time of 2:21.86. It was .01 seconds behind race winner Alexa Beezhold from Olivet Nazarene.

In the 1500m run, freshman Cayla Eckenroth led five Cardinals in the race with a career-fast time of 4:58.45. Sophomore Meliza Rodriguez was not far behind, placing seventh in 5:04.30. Sophomore Lauren Whitehouse (8th - 5:05.85) and senior Kitty Taylor (12th - 5:08.00) also turned in career-best performances in the race.

The Ball State outdoor track & field team will look for a much better weather forecast their next time out, when part of the squad travels to NC State for the Raleigh Relays (March 30-31). Other members of the team are scheduled to complete in the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational (March 30-31) hosted by Cincinnati.
