- Ball State women's basketball team suffered an 72-66 loss to Mid-American Conference West Division rival Toledo Wednesday night in Savage Arena. It was the Cardinals third loss of the season. Senior forward Destiny Washington led the Cardinals in scoring for the second-straight contest after scoring 19 points. Senior forward Moriah Monaco finished the game with 17 points and moved into ninth place (1,356) on the program's all-time scoring list, passing former Cardinal and current assistant coach Audrey McDonald-Spencer. Monaco has now scored in double figures 70 times over her career. Junior guard Carmen Grande reached double digit assists for the third straight game in a row, she ended the night with 11 helpers.
- Ball State's 14-3 record is the best start in program history.
- Ball State finished non-conference play with an 11-0 record and was one of only seven teams nationally to accomplish that goal. The Cardinals were also only one of two non Power 5 teams on that list. Ball State has received votes in both the USAToday Coaches and AP Top 25 polls this season.
- Power 5 conference wins over - Vanderbilt (88-79) and Purdue (66-60). Along with wins over Big East opponent Butler (87-75) and Conference USA Western Kentucky (93-81).
- Ball State has scored at least 80-plus points in 10 out of its 17 games.
- Ball State ranks 39th nationally in the latest RPI which is the second highest ranking of any team in the Mid-American Conference.
- Ball State has three wins over top 100 RPI Teams - Purdue (46 RPI), Western Kentucky (56) and Butler (79).
- Junior guard Carmen Grande ranks second nationally in assists per game (9.6 apg) and second in total assists (153).
- The 11 straight non-conference wins marked the second largest win streak in program history (12 in 2008-09 which included win over Tennessee in the NCAA Tournament).
- Kent State holds a 9-9 record heading into Saturday's game and a 2-4 mark in MAC play. The Golden flashes have lost two-straight at Central Michigan (88-84) and at Bowling Green (60-50). The two league games the Golden Flashes have won were over Eastern Michigan (67-60) and (76-69).
- Saturday's game against Kent State will mark the 58th time in program history the two schools have met with the Golden Flashes leading the all-time series, 37-19. The Cardinals have won five of its last seven meeting against Kent State. The last time Ball State fell to the Golden Flashes was two years ago after suffering a 59-50 setback on Feb. 13 in the M.A.C Center. Last season the Cardinals defeated the Golden Flashes in their lone meeting by a score of 71-47 in Worthen Arena. The win marked the 20th year the Cardinals had not lost at home to Kent State.
- Kent State is paced by Jordan Korinek, who averages 19.6 points per game, behind Korinek is Megan Carter who is currently averaging 14.5 ppg. McKenna Stephens rounds out the double digit scoring with 10.3 points per contest.
- The Golden Flashes are led by head coach Todd Starkey who is in his secondseason at Kent State. He currently owns a 28-12 record with the Golden Flashes.
