Men’s Swimming and Diving Rounds out Eastern Michigan Invite

YPSILANTI, Mich.– The Ball State men's swimming and diving team concluded competition at the EMU Invite Saturday afternoon with a second place finish. The Cardinals finished with 770 points, just behind the host of Eastern Michigan.
In the 200 medley relay, Ball State marked a fourth place finish. Spencer Ball, Cullen Tyler, Ben Andrew and Zach Reichle came together to post a time of 1:34.20 to earn 30 points.
In the 400 IM, Isaac Walling, Arnas Maciunas, Ryan Jackowiak and Alex Nickoli all earned points for the Cardinals. Walling earned the eighth place spot to add 11 points with a time of 4:17.91. Maciunas was in the ninth place spot while Jackowiak earned 10th place and Nickoli earned 11th.
Banistre Lienhart, Drew Weeks, Maciunas, and Cobie Fritsch all earned points in the 200 freestyle. Lienhart was fifth in that event with Weeks in seventh, Maciunas in eight and Fritsch in 11th place.
Tyler and Zach Toman were the two Cardinals that excelled in the 100 breaststroke. Tyler earned 14 points with the fifth place finish at 57.96. Toman marked a time of 59.12 to earn 12 points for Ball State.
Ball, Logan Ackley, Chase Jackson and Jason Taylor put up impressive performances in the 100 backstroke. Ball was in the seventh place spot while Ackley was in ninth, Jackson was in 11th and Taylor was in 13th place.
To end the day, Ball State had the fourth and fifth place in the 800 freestyle relay. Ball, Ackley, Lienhart and Meyn came together to mark a time of 7:00.62 to earn that fourth place spot. In the fifth place spot was Maciunas, Jackowiak, Walling and Jack Luddy.
The Cardinals will return to action on Jan. 5 in Indianapolis, Ind. when they take on IUPUI and Xavier.
