Field Hockey Wins Last Home Game in Exciting Fashion

MUNCIE, Ind.– The Ball State field hockey team hosted Central Michigan to round out the home regular season Friday afternoon. The Cardinals were able to edge out the Chippewas, 1-0, in overtime.
Ball State totaled nine shots on the day, five of which were on goal. The Cardinals added one assist and eight penalty corners to the stat sheet.
After two periods of scoreless play, the Cardinals capitalized in the 75th minute of action. Ball State's Carley Shannon was able to connect with the back of the cage after a nice pass from Hillary Scott. Shannon added two shots on goal while Scott had four total shots and one defensive save. Anya Eicher was the other Cardinal credited for a defensive save. Darbi Gullett added two shots while Abbey Main tallied one.
In her 74:59 minutes of action, goalkeeper Grace Chavez racked up six saves.
The Cardinals will finish up the regular season with a trip to Oxford, Ohio Sunday, Oct. 29. Ball State and Miami (OH) are set to begin their contest at noon.
