Field Hockey Ends Season with Loss at Miami

OXFORD, Ohio.– The Ball State field hockey team traveled to Oxford, Ohio Sunday afternoon to take on the MAC leaders of Miami. The Cardinals fell to the RedHawks, 7-1.
Ball State totaled four shots on the day, two of which were on goal. Those shots came from Carley Shannon, Abbey Main, Hillary Scott and Marjolein Dekker. Main was the lone Cardinal to score in the contest. She was able to connect in the 30th minute on a shot from the center of the circle. Today's goal marked Main's fourth of the season.
In the cage, redshirt freshman Alison McMullen came in for starter Grace Chavez and recorded two saves in her 52 minutes of action.
The Cardinals end the 2017 regular season with a 5-12 record, 1-5 in the MAC. Shannon was the team leader with a total of nine points. She totaled three goals, three assists and a .889 shot on goal percentage. Main led the team in goals with four. Michelle Shampton and Sierra Jefferson each tallied three goals this season. The Cardinals with two goals throughout the season were Scott, Anya Eicher, and Abby Ferenczy. Darbi Gullett and Hannah Bohn each added one goal for Ball State.
Chavez ended the season with over 1,000 minutes played. She tallied 74 saves, averaged 2.30 saves per game, and a .673 save percentage.
